Remote Function Module (RFM)

Remote Function Module (RFM)

The Remote Function Module (RFM) family provides a range of network termination modules, offered with various configurations, to reduce cabling, simplify the installation, and increase the functionality of the PSM Tank Gauging System.

RFM Termination and Intrinsically Safe Barrier Modules

The RFM termination and barrier modules partner PSM’s APT1000 level transmitter to provide both simple multi-drop network connections and full compliance with ATEX, IECEx, and UKCA intrinsic safety standards for power and Modbus loop where required.

The RFM4 is a termination module for up to 4 transmitters, and the RFM-ISR is a safety barrier providing protection for both power and communication lines to the APT1000 transmitters.

For Safe Area networks the RFM-ISR is also employed to provide a regulated 12V DC supply to the APT1000 transmitters on the network.

The low power requirements of the APT1000 transmitter when operated in digital mode means that a single barrier module can protect an entire network of sensors.

Enclosure options are a lightweight IP67 aluminium enclosure or a rugged IP67 steel enclosure suitable for harsh environments or open deck mounting.

Key Features

  • Simple to install and commission with flexibility for power and Modbus loop intrinsically safe protection
  • Provides significant reduction in signal cable costs when used in Modbus digital loop mode
  • Suitable for harsh environments and open deck mounting

For further information and technical details, please download our RFM Termination and Intrinsically Safe Barrier Modules datasheet or contact us to discuss your requirements.

For installations where the APT1000 will be used in analogue 4-20mA mode, the RFM168 and RFM10 provide simple junction boxes, with a specific Variant, the RFM30 also incorporating a galvanic isolator for the 4-20mA signal.
