Scanjet PSM has extensive expertise and experience in supplying marine instrumentation and protection systems to a wide variety of applications and vessels and ships of all sizes.  We work with shipyards and system integrators across the world and specialise in supplying and adapting our systems and products to each application. Some of the examples of types of vessels we work with include:

Tankers

Tanker vessels designed for the transportation of liquified goods, in all shapes and sizes, are one of our specialities.  Whether they are being used for the shipment of gas, oil, LPG, LNG, hydrogen, slurry or other liquids, our systems and products are used across the ship in applications such as cargo tanks, draft and trim, ballast water tanks, service tank, bilges etc.

Through our association with Scanjet, PSM products are also incorporated into the ITAMA (Intelligent Tank Management) system, which produces a completely integrated solution.  Recently we have supplied our APT 500 sensors to a number of new build tankers in China.

Military Vessels

Scanjet PSM has a longstanding reputation for supplying products to military vessels of all categories and purposes. We have worked with aircraft carriers, assault ships, corvettes, frigates, minesweepers and replenishment tankers.  Some examples of us working on behalf of national navies across the world include:

• Tank gauging systems to RoRo Vehicle carriers for the US Navy
• Level and pressure transmitters plus flood detection switches to Royal Canadian Navy vessels
• Tank gauging systems for landing craft for the UAE Navy
• Supply of level transmitters for patrol boats of the Thai Royal Navy
• Replacement level transmitters for the RFA Fort Victoria refit for the British Royal Navy

Tugboats

We have considerable experience working with conventional tractor and sterndrive tugs and both escort and support tugboats.  In particular, our new DTGS (Digital Tank Gauging System) is especially suited to this application. You can download the DTGS literature here.

We have supplied our DTGS system to numerous tugboats around the world including for the following applications:

• Complete DTGS system supplied for four 50T Bollard pull Tugs for Indian Navy
• Complete DTGS system supplied for four 60T Bollard pull Tugs for Egyptian Port Authority

Bulk Carriers & Aggregate Vessels

Our TankView system is particularly suited to this type of vessel thanks to the durability of PSM sensors. These can be utilised on all service tanks together with our bilge switches for flood detection.  Products and systems can be supplied for new build or refits, the following being an example undertaken for the Sefine Shipyard in Turkey.

Superyachts

Again we have experience both on new build and refurbishment projects for this fast growing sector of the ship and boat building industry, supplying everything from large mega superyachts to classic yachts and multi-hulled vessels.

We have worked with yacht manufacturers worldwide including supplying a complete tank gauging system to Turquoise Yachts in Turkey  and supplying our transmitters and sensors for the restoration of the classic yacht Malahne which was restored to her original glory a the Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, UK.

Cruise Ships

Our products have been supplied to cruise ships across the world from mega cruise ships through to those for river cruising and many more.  An example is the supply of a complete tank gauging system to the America, a new build paddlewheeler ship for American Cruise Lines.

Passenger Vessels & Ferries

We supply systems and sensors for both passenger and transport ferries (RoRo ships) and those that transport goods and people (RoPax ships) that work on busy routes across the world.  A typical installation includes sensors to measure all fuel oil (HFO & diesel), service, and freshwater tanks, and display this information at multiple locations. A recent example is the retrofit undertaken on Stena Vessel Mont Ventoux which has 35 tank measurement points and displays located in the Engine Room CCR and Bridge.

Support Vessels & Work Boats

With the growth in offshore energy, particularly windfarms, our products and systems, especially the DTGS (Digital Tank Gauging System) are very popular on these smaller vessels that have become the workhorse of these industries.  You can view our dedicated DTGS brochure here.  An example is our supply of 120 sensors (2 per 60 tanks) for the Oceanographic vessel the Ocean Evolution.
